Affiliation Guidelines

CMENAS welcomes applications for faculty affiliation from ßÙßÇÂþ»­ scholars working on any aspect of the Middle East and North Africa. Affiliated faculty contribute to interdisciplinary dialogue, help shape Center programming, and become eligible for grant support.

  • Eligibility: Tenured, tenure-track, visiting, and non-tenure track faculty across all disciplines.
  • Benefits:
    • Research and travel funding
    • Curriculum development grants
    • Promotion of research
    • Participation in Title VI initiatives
  • Expectations:
    • Maintain MENA-focused scholarship or teaching
    • Share updates on work and participate in Center activities
    • Acknowledge CMENAS support where appropriate
    • Application: Submit a CV and a brief statement of interest to CMENAS@binghamton.edu

Faculty Research and Travel Grants

  •  Amount: $500–$2,500
  • Purpose: Supports MENA-related research, fieldwork, conference travel, and data collection.
  • Eligibility: CMENAS-affiliated faculty
  • Application Requirements:
    • 2-page project proposal
    • Itemized budget with justification
    • CV (max 3 pages)
  • Submission Email: CMENAS@binghamton.edu
  • Post-Award: 1–2 page report required within 3 months.

Research Collaborations and Initiatives

 CMENAS supports faculty research collaborations, public scholarship projects, and interdisciplinary initiatives.
