’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SOPPS) announces that its Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program was granted accreditation for another four years by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). The ACPE Board of Directors, at its June 2023 meeting, approved the recommendation made by site visitors following their visit to the school in April. Accreditation means the school’s Doctor of Pharmacy program is “judged to meet established qualifications and education standards.”

“This has truly been a team effort involving the dedicated efforts of our talented faculty, staff and students as well as the support of many preceptors, community partners, supporters of the school and University leadership,” said Dean Kanneboyina Nagaraju.

Nagaraju said that a true positive from the accreditors’ site visit was their finding that our interprofessional education program (IPE) is an exemplar. “They only give this designation to a handful of the 143 pharmacy schools nationwide, and they decided to award it to us based on our extensive interprofessional education (IPE) activities across the curriculum with our partners at the Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences, College of Community and Public Affairs as well as SUNY Upstate Medical University.

“The Provost’s Office centrally coordinating IPE is also a strength,” Nagaraju added.

Site visitors, who noted a perceptible change in the school since their last visit, noted that SOPPS “has a small school energy, enthusiasm and a big school research footprint … the culture and maturity of our school are beyond its years, and the professionalism of our students is very impressive.”
